Cost of living support services
Citizens advice offers free, confidential and impartial advice to help you manage money worries and other challenges linked to the cost of living. They can support with benefits checks, debt advice, housing issues, employment concerns, help access energy and food support. Advice is available online, by phone or in person.
Warm Spaces - Luton Borough Council & ELFT NHS
Luton Council, along with our partners in the voluntary and charitable sector and faith organisations are hosting warm spaces. Every time you come to a Warm Space you'll be given a warm welcome from the staff and volunteers, and be treated with dignity and respect, these are non-judgemental space. You can stay warm and get a warm drink, and some organisations will also offer additional activities or food provision
Luton Borough Council - Supporting You
Luton, Supporting You is an online support website that brings together local services and guidance to help residents through difficult times. Developed in partnership with other organisations such as Citizens Advice and Luton Law Centre, the site is designed to make it easier to find trusted support in one place. Including information on benefits, help with food and bills, housing advice and tools such as the better off calculator, which can help you to check what benefits or support you may be entitled to and how to maximise your income.

If you’re struggling to feed yourself or your family, some organisations can help. They’re used by hundreds of families every week in Luton, from all walks of life. As growing numbers of people need support to feed themselves and their families, we want to make it easier to get help, sharing where you can find food suitable for you and your family. Luton Foodbank is a charitable organisation dedicated to tackling hunger and food insecurity within the local community. Established to provide short-term emergency food to individuals and families in crisis, the food bank aims to ensure that no one in the Luton area goes hungry.
The Household Support Fund is available to households who are in financial crisis and have substantial energy debts. Luton Borough Council has been allocated funding from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to support households in Luton between April 2025 and March 2026 with food, energy bills and other essentials.
Support may be provided in a number of ways including vouchers which can be used in supermarkets, and for gas and electric payments.
Currently residents living in Luton, can apply for a number of grants available from the government and energy companies to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. They are encouraging homeowners, tenants and landlords to apply for the relevant grant schemes, to help improve the overall fabric condition of the property first and foremost.
