Healthwatch Luton invites local communities to share their views on end of life care
Healthwatch Luton is inviting local communities to share their views and experiences of palliative and end of life care, to help improve services for everyone.
Your voice counts
Roma and South Asian communities are invited to share views on end of life care, as part of a wider study into community experiences of end of life care.
Talking about dying, death and care at the end of life isn’t always easy. Many people are unsure what support is available or feel uncomfortable starting those conversations, but understanding what people know, believe and experience is vital to improving care for everyone.
Palliative and end of life care is about helping people live well until the end, offering comfort, dignity and support to them and their families. However, not all communities have the same awareness of these services, or feel equally confident in accessing them. Cultural differences, language barriers, and past experiences can all affect how people seek help and how care is delivered.
To help change this, Healthwatch Luton is speaking directly with Roma and South Asian (Sikh, Hindu and Muslim) community members. By listening to your views and experiences, we aim to build a clearer picture of what people understand about palliative and end of life care and how local health and care organisations can make support more inclusive, respectful and accessible to all.
Your feedback will inform future planning and help ensure that everyone, regardless of background, has access to the care and compassion they deserve at the end of life.
We’re hosting two small discussion sessions to explore these issues further, one for Roma community members and another for South Asian communities. Participants will receive a £20 voucher and refreshments.
